New parents have hundreds of questions–of course you do! Everything is new and exciting, and you need answers! I provide a lot of guidance to my clients from the first time we make contact to help you prepare for your maternity session. On our first phone call, I want to learn all about YOU–tell me about how your pregnancy is going, how your family is feeling about welcoming a new baby, and share any concerns you might have. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients over the past few 6 years, and I’ve found that most new parents share these key questions.
When is the ideal time to have my maternity session?
I recommend that my clients have their maternity portrait sessions between 32-35 weeks (single baby) or 26-32 weeks (if you’re carrying multiples). This tends to be a time frame when you are not yet feeling super-uncomfortable and you have a nice-sized baby bump to show off.
When should I schedule my maternity session?
You can schedule your maternity session anytime after your first trimester is complete. I have had lots of mamas call me immediately after their 12 week OB appointment, because they are so excited to document this special time!
I know I’m going to want a newborn session once my baby has arrived. Do you offer a “bundle package” for both maternity and newborn sessions combined?
Yes! I offer a $150 discount when you book your maternity and newborn sessions at the same time.
Where do you hold maternity sessions?
Maternity sessions can either be held outdoors at a private, picturesque location (weather permitting) or in my professional studio.
Does my partner participate in a maternity session or is it just me and my baby bump?
That is completely up to you! Of course, I welcome partners and your older children to be a part of your maternity session. You are welcoming this new baby into your growing family, and everyone is a part of that!
What do I wear to my maternity session?
When you book a maternity session with Megan Dustin Photography, you get complimentary access to the gorgeous maternity client wardrobe in my studio. That’s right–I have beautiful, classic maternity gowns available for you to wear during your maternity session. Before your session, I will invite you into my studio for a quick wardrobe appointment so you can try on gowns and choose your favorite options for your session. If you prefer to wear your own clothing to your session, I’m happy to help with styling as well!
Should I get my hair and makeup done?
You do not have to get all glammed up, but I encourage this for my clients. You are experiencing this life-changing, miraculous event called motherhood. You are beautiful, strong, and amazing. Having professional hair and makeup done for your session can make you feel confident and pulled-together. I do have a team of hair & makeup stylists who are available to make you even more gorgeous right here in my studio.
