Our Top 10 Children’s Books in 2020

Family

back to blog

Like all of you, we were faced with a lot of time at home in 2020.  My kids and I LOVE to read!  Every night I snuggle up with each of them and we read before bed.  It’s my favorite time of day, and it’s a memory I have with my own parents when I was little.  We compiled a list of our favorite books we enjoyed this year…Some are older titles, and some are new to our personal library.  We hope you check out some of these titles and share some of your favorite reads with us too in the comments!

I’m linking each of the titles to Amazon, but I do hope that you’ll consider visiting your local book store and supporting a local business during this time when you check these out!

The Dustin Kids’ Top Books We’ve Read in 2020

Sponsored Ad - What Should Darla Do? Featuring the Power to Choose

What Would Darla Do??  The first book in this series, What Would Danny Do, is a family favorite “choose your own story” book, and we loved this one too!  It’s a great book for opening up dialogue with your kids about the choices they make everyday. Where the Sidewalk Ends: Poems and Drawings

Where the Sidewalk Ends   This one is an old favorite and gets picked up off the shelf all the time.  Endless giggles!

Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale

Knuffle Bunny. We have so many Mo Willems favorite books.  (I hope you all caught his live drawing lessons during our quarantine too–they were SO fun!).  Natalie has a special lovey named “Cold Lamby”, and this story about a prized lovey named Knuffle Bunny was so sweet and she loves it!Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things Are This one is a given…I have a son named Max.  And truthfully, I have 3 Wild Things!

Superfudge

Superfudge Still as funny as when we were kids!

Little Blue Truck I’m pretty sure we own every Little Blue Truck book that has been written…They’re a big hit with my vehicle loving little Connor-Man!

Love You Forever

Love You Forever This is probably my hands-down favorite text from a picture book.  I cry EVERY SINGLE TIME I read it to my kids…and that’s at least 3x/week.  Throughout 2002, we had some hard days when I lost my patience, and I would often say the words from this book to my littles as an apology. And I still cried as I said them.  Now, go read it!

I Need a New Butt!

I Need a New Butt A little unconventional, but it CRACKS them up…haha.  See what I did there?  Get it, and laugh.

. Press Here

Press Here A super fun, interactive book about colors!  I’ve actually used this for a read-aloud in my kids’ schools too, and their friends all loved it too! A Bad Case of Stripes (Scholastic Bookshelf)

A Bad Case of Stripes  Oh Camilla Cream…such a fun story about why your kiddos should eat their lima beans!

There are SO many books we love in our house, and this is just the tip of the pile.  I hope you read some of these titles with your kiddos and enjoy them as much as we did…and share some of your favorites with us too!
